Tim McQuay & Mister Nicadual Win AQHA Senior Reining Reserve World Championship

Tim McQuay and Jerry Kimmel’s Mister Nicadual captured the AQHA Senior Reining Reserve World Championship Saturday, November 17.

“It’s great to win right before the big Futurity,” said Tim, referring to the National Reining Horse Association which begins on Thanksgiving day, just 5 days later. “It gives you a lot of confidence. I am so grateful to Jerry Kimmel for letting me ride this horse.”

Kimmel was equally appreciative of McQuay. “I bought this horse because I wanted another one for Tim to ride,” he explained. “There is no one who can show a horse like Tim McQuay.”

Mister Nicadual is no stranger to tough competition. In fact, the 7-year-old chestnut stallion has earned over $100,000 in NRHA competition, and won the Team Gold Medal and Individual Silver Medal with Tim at the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games.

Immediately after the pair marked a 224, beating the next closest horse by three points, Randy Paul and Sorcerers Apprentice, owned by Jim & Pat Warren’s Rancho Oso Rio, marked a 224.5 – but that only served to heighten the excitement. The McQuays had sold the Gunner stallion to the Warrens, and were excited to see Paul win.

“It’s great to see Randy back at this high level of competition,” said Colleen McQuay. “And we’re always excited to see one of our stallions offspring do well.”
